New captcha technology: POWER CAPTCHA is easy to use and protects forms and login areas not only against bots but also against hackers. Users have to recognize a value in the background of an image and click on the corresponding solution value in the foreground of the image. Alternatively, they can request a solution code by email.
“We wanted to develop a captcha that is easy to use, does not collect unnecessary data and complies with current security standards,” says Christian Niemann, CEO of Uniique AG. “Google’s market leader reCAPTCHA in particular is very opaque when it comes to data usage, so we were looking for a secure alternative. Our captcha should also protect against cyber attacks by hackers and not process any data outside the EU.”
POWER CAPTCHA does not primarily differentiate whether a human or a bot has triggered an interaction – it always checks whether the access is authorized. In contrast to other captchas, access control can be configured individually by the website operator. Each attempted solution generates an encrypted code that the central POWER CAPTCHA AI evaluates and remembers for a limited time. If further attempts are made by the same user/client, the level of difficulty of the solution is increased or further interactions may be rejected for a certain period of time. Website operators can set these and other parameters individually.
No data is stored on users’ devices. The data used for the security check (usually IP address and, if applicable, e-mail address/user name) is transmitted via encrypted communication channels and processed in unreadable form (hashed). No other data is processed beyond this and data is only stored until the security check and the processing period have been completed.
POWER CAPTCHA can be used to protect forms and login areas, making it possible to protect special store functions, limit downloads or restrict access to websites or app functions – optionally even without the visible display of a captcha (no-captcha setting).
